A Lot of Nerve

Remember that publishing contact I got a few days ago? Or a week ago? I wrote about it in the "Dreams and Visions" post. Well, I finally got up the nerve to send a Facebook message to RR. It took...a lot of nerve. I've been thinking about it since JM told me about him and sent me his Facebook. I've tried to figure out what to say, since I am not actually in the position to ask him to read my story - even if I had that kind of bravery. It's not ready. I asked Dad, and with his advice fermenting in my head for a week, I ended up writing the following (with a little privacy measures):
Hi R,

I got your name from JM. She saw that I had finished writing the second draft of a YA novel and said that I should contact you. She also sent me the link to the [publishing company] website, which I have perused. I admire the detail on your page, and the FAQ was much more helpful than other publishing sites I’ve glanced at. I’m curious about how you got your start in publishing and why you decided to do what you do. What do you like best about it?

I look forward to hearing from you,
Jane Harmony

We'll see if it has any results. You can only know if something is successful by its results. But I feel like this is the best I could have done under the circumstances. I am very satisfied with it.
