No Regrets

So apparently wisdom teeth extraction takes a lot out of you. I spent most of last week being exhausted. On the plus side, I watched a lot of White Collar. And Stranger Than Fiction {love}, First Daughter, and The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. {AND THE HOBBIT IS IN FIVE MONTHS!}

And once I got over that exhaustion, I went to an in-theater marathon of the Dark Knight trilogy, getting to watch The Dark Knight Rises at 12:01AM. It was pretty epic, not going to lie. But it all feels very surreal now, with the news about Colorado. Because I was at a midnight showing. I was watching the same movie they were, at the same time. {Hour time difference, but still...same movie.}

Yet God is still good. And He is still working miracles.

As for writing, I gave myself a deadline of Saturday night. And it didn't get done. I'm having to write a new ending, and it's tricky. I'm so done with this book, so tired of it, so ready to just let the whole thing rest. But I've sworn that I will do a good job. I won't leave it behind with any regrets.

There's a phrase that has danced around. I don't know where it came from, but it's one I live by, more often than not.
Do your best. That is success.
It's super simple. Super cheesy. But it's true. If you do your best with what you have, you can have no regrets. There are moments in my life that I wish I'd handled differently. But, looking back, I did my best with what I had. And I can't regret that.
"All we have to do is decide what to do with the time that is given to us." - J. R. R. Tolkein
And that's why I do my best now. If I give up, or send in a half-finished result, that's failure. If I do my best, that's success. Even if I'm rejected. The rejection has nothing to do with my success. But my commitment to excellence...does.
